Dozens of Postville citizens wrote letters to the Judge on behalf of Sholom. Many attested to his generosity to Jews and non-Jews alike. Many told the Judge how Sholom had almost single-handedly built a beautiful and united community.

Already thousands have attended rallies in support of Sholom to decry the unjust and overzealous prosecution. So far, there have been fourteen rallies held for him, including in Brooklyn, NY; Monsey, NY; Kiryas Joel, NY; New Square, NY; Lakewood, NJ; Surfside, FL; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; and abroad in Montreal. More than 52,000 people have signed the White House “We The People” petition urging an investigation into the case.
To date, 51 Members of U.S. House of Representatives have sent letters to Attorney General Eric Holder regarding the allegations of prosecutorial misconduct in relation to numerous undisclosed ex-parte meetings between the Judge and prosecutors.
On May 3, 2011, at a once-a-year House Oversight Hearing of the Judiciary Committee at which Attorney General Eric Holder testified, two members of Congress (Debbie Wasserman Schultz D-FL and Sheila Jackson Lee D-TX) publicly mentioned the case of Sholom Rubashkin to the Attorney General.
